OWEN's First day of Kindergarten....

So this is how the morning went...

I was smart and had everything set out the night before. We had his new backpack, new lunch box, new clothes. It was great. The the morning came. First Olivia woke up earlier then normal. Owen wanted to wear his orange shirt instead of his black. Daniel realized his class started earlier today then it normally does so he was unable to drop Owen off at school with us. The whole time I am trying not to cry because my little man is starting kindergarten! On the way to school (I guess Owen can tell I'm a little upset ) this is how our conversation went:

Owen: Mom it's ok to be sad, I'm just growing up.

Mom: I know I'm just sad because your getting so big and I wish your daddy could come.

Owen: But mom, I will take care of you! That's just my job! My daddy said when he is not here it is my job to take care of my mommy and my Olivia. That's what he said it's just going to be alright. I promise I will still be 5 when I get back from school.....

Mom: You promise?

Owen: I promise, promise... but I'm in kindergarten so now I'm a man!

I was trying SO hard not to cry until at least after he was in school... but after that, there were a few tears. My little man so grown up.... here are a few pictures of Owen...and his proud sister :)

Okay so before I get any comments on how I torture my child... there is a reason for this :) (other then I really do think it is cute) I had this lady contact me and ask me if I would take pictures of the baby stuff that she makes... everything here with the exception of the necklace (which was my moms) she made!!! Such cute stuff.... any way in return I get to keep everything she sent me as props for my business... we are talking over 100 items... I thought it was a pretty good deal :) So here is my little model,

Owen- ism's

So Owen has been saying some really funny things lately so I thought I would document them for all of you to hear....

1. Just this morning I mad him waffles for breakfast... he said he couldn't eat them because waffles give him headaches.

2. Yesterday he went potty and Gee Gee went in to help him wipe... she gave him toilet paper and he said " No Gee Gee we use baby wipes!" she gave him a baby wipe and he threw it in the toilet.. then he said " Oh man Gee Gee we don't throw baby wipes in the toilet! It will clog! Oh well it's OK you can try again tomorrow and see how you do."

3. I was feeding Olivia and he said " Mommy what are you doing!!" Me: I'm feeding Olivia

Owen: But mommy!!! Tell Olivia we don't bite nipples!!!

4. Owen: Mommy why does Hallie (his cousin) have to live in Germany? Me: because that is where her daddy works. Owen: (thinking about it) that makes me so frustrated! Me: Why does that make you frustrated? Owen: I don't want to live at daddy's grocery store!

Here is Our almost 4 year old Rock star. He was so funny. This kid i used to nanny is really amazing at playing the drums. He and his sister are actually in a rock band. We were over there the other day and Owen was in LOVE with the drums. So they let him play them and it was really cute. I couldn't believe the rhythm he had! The picture is not really that good but you can get the idea....

Soooooo... Many of you may know, but for those of you that don't!!!! We found out Friday that Owen is going to be a BIG BROTHER!!!! We are so excited!!! This is how we told our families... Owen loves his big brother shirt and is telling everyone he's going to be a big brother!! So fun!!!

I have been getting many requests for new pictures of Owen so here are a few pictures of Owen being cute the other night when we went out to eat with some friends. He is such a flirt, and i swear he has a thing for blonds. Our server was cute little Blondie girl and Owen (a few times) winked at her and said "Hey Babe". Where does he learn these things!!! He is so funny!

Ok so i figured it was high time i updated my blog. I'm sure most do not even look at it

any more seeing as October was the last time i wrote. Wow thats really sad. Anyway, I've been taking a photography class on Friday mornings while Owen is at school and I REALLY love it. I feel like it is forcing me to look at photography in a whole different way that is truly amazing. Any I thought I would share some images that i took from my last project. Thanks to Jessica and Ella I got a A+ and had my work displayed on the photo lab wall!!! More pictures of Ella to come....

Pumkin Patch Fun!!!!!

So we went to the Pumkin patch today over by us. This is the most wonderful pumkin patch i have ever seen. Last year we had such a blast with sara and hallie and elizabeth. So my little baby, At least i keep telling myself thats what he is, had his first school pictures. not only that but i went to my first parent teacher confrence. Yes, know it's a few years early because he's in a preprepy K but still it was a parent teacher conference and real school pictures with a class picture and everything. Anyway, here is a proof of his school picture. I LOVE it! Even if he does look like he's 5 and not 3!!!! :) Please tell me he will stop growing up! :)

Here are some of the newest pictures that we have of what has been going on......

First i graduated from Dental Assisting school this past weekend. I don't have any pictures as of yet from that but when i get them I'll put them up. I do however have a few from my last day of class so I'll put a few of those up.

Second Owen started and all day preschool. He rides the bus and everything. He loves it. In fact the first day of school Daniel and i took him and picked him up from school and he was so mad because he wanted to ride the bus. He is learning all kinds of new things. The other day he came up to us and showed us his school folder that has his name on it and said "Mommy O-W-E-N that's for Owen" i couldn't believe it!!!!!! Now the only time we can seem to get him to do it is when we don't ask him to. Tonight Owen stated counting with Daniel he counted all the way to 10 on his own. So he is doing so well!!!! Daniel is still studying hard. He seems to really enjoy all of his classes and is learning lots. So that is the update with us. We are sad to say goodbye to yet another part of our family tomorrow, Becca and baby Alex are leaving us heading up to WA. It will be sad not to be up there with them. So I went and did a little photo shoot tonight of Alex i'll post some of those also.We can't wait for Christmas when we are all together again!!!!

My 3 year old!!!!!! can you believe it! My little man is 3. I really dont know how i feel about that. Today he fell asleep in the car and so i carried him in to the store and i thought. i'll be real fast i dont need a cart..... i thought my arms were going to fall off. I mean he has always been a big kid but when did he get HUGE!!!! I know all of you are thinking he has always been huge. lol, so needless to say my little man is not so little any more. Owen started his summer school program on Monday. It is just for 2 hours m-th. he LOVES it!!!! On Wednesday he took the school bus for the first time. He was so excited!!! I was totally freaked out, I was at work while he was going daniel took him to the bus and all i could think about was the fact that owen was going on the bus for the first time! When i got home from work all he could talk about was going to school on the bus. In fact he woke up at 2am yesterday morning, came in our room and said " mommy wake up, i go on the bus please." at least he was polite (we have been working on our pleases) so he loves school and the bus :). Last Saturday before Sara, Hallie and Chase left us :( we took the kids to get their pictures taken for their birthdays, hoping to get a really cute cousin shot. That didnt work out so well but we did get really cute pictures of the kids on their own, here are Owen's 3 year old pictures, I'll let Sara show you how cute hers are...... This one is my FAVE!!!!!!

Okay so I thought this was to cute. Owen turns 3 in a week so i thought it was high time that he started sleeping in a big boy bed. Yes i know most kids start sleeping in big kids LONG before their 3rd birthday but he was perfectly happy in a crib seeing as how it took us so long to get him one and he slept in a closet for the first year and half of his life.... don't worry it was a walk in lol. It's a family thing us Powell's like to stick our kids in the closet right Sara? anyway, so we put his bed together tonight and every one told me "he's not going to stay in bed hes going to fight it tooth and nail" but i had faith!!! Not once did he get out of bed!!!!!! Can you believe it!!!! Not once!!!! So i took so pictures and here they are of my Big boy!!!! He had growen up way to fast!!!! I Love him!!!!!!

Okay so i'm sitting here in school bored to death. I know i'm a great student right? Anyway i thought i would take this time to update my blog. Mostly to get Elizabeth off my back ;) I love you boo!!!! Anyway a lot has happend in our lives lately. First thing that happend is I got a job. I LOVE it. Really i would rather not be working at all but right now it's something that i need to be doing. So if i have to be working I have the perfect job. I work in an Orthodontist office, which it the pratice that i wanted to get in to. Its actually my old orthodontist that i work for now. I'm doing mostly front office work right now but he is going to slowley train my in back office. Which i'm really greatful for because it makes me worth more. So that works for me. The girls that i work with are wonderful. It's just over all a GREAT place to work. And i only work 3 1/2 days a week so you can't beat that! :)

Then the most exciting thing that is happening in our lives right now is that Daniel is finally home!!!!!! He got home almost 2 weeks ago. It is so wonderful being a real family now!!!!! Owen took it really well, i think we prepared him enough to the point that he really understood that daniel was comming home. For the first few days any time daniel would leave the room he would call out "Daddy? Daddy where are you" it was really cute. But now he's calming down about it. I'll add some pictures of Daniels home comming that my sister in law and i took (mostly her).

Photography business is really starting to pick up so thats fun. I have done so far 2 weddings this summer and i have more to come. Not only that but i have been doing a lot of family photos and senior pictures.

I am getting ready to graduate in August!!!! I can't wait as much as i have enjoyed going to school and being able to do that. It's really tough to do that and work. So when it's over i'll be glad. So that is what is going on with us powell's lately. Hope i didn't bore you all to death. I'm going to really try to stay on top of this whole blogging thing :) I know i say that every time. Well here are some of my fav pictures from daniel's home comming...... I'll add more pictures later to. :)

Okay this is for all you pushy people out there...and you know who you are ;) i am finally updating my blog..... It seems every time i sat down to write, something always came up. No more excuses here i am!!!
Things are going well right now, i think it is safe to say we are FINALLY settled in Cali. It took us awhile. but we have a "normal" routine now (some what). Owen finally started up with speech again. It took us awhile to get that going. I was hoping is was going to be alot smoother of a transition, but we had to basically start all over. Which i don't understand, because i thought an IFSP was interchangeable from state to state. Whatever to late now it's done. I really like this program that he is in, they come out to the house M-F 8am-10am they have 2 different girls that come out one M,W,F the other T&TH . I hate to say it but i really don't think he likes the girl that comes M,W,F i'm not sure what i should do about it. he doesn't "hate" her but i really don't think he does as well with her. I'm thinking about asking to switch them if at all possible but I don't know.... It is just until he gets into the center that we are on a waiting list for. He can't get in there until Jan or Feb. Any enough about speech. He is doing REALLY well though.
Owen and I got a Disney land pass (just one pass he doesn't need one yet) we love going with Sara and Hallie to Disneyland. I think Owen and Hallie have become pretty good friends, as good as a 1&2 year lold can be. She calls him Oeo it's really cute.
Daniel is doing well, as well as he can be I guess. He can't wait to go out to sea and get this all done with. I think him being is WA feels like it is dragging out the deployment. We get to see him in 4 days, he will be home for Christmas for 10 day so I can not wait for that!!!! I can't wait until he is out of the navy and we can be a "full time" family. Not that going into the navy is a bad thing but we are both ready to move on.
As for me I've been going to school to become a dental assistant. I LOVE it!!!! I think I have found something I am actually pretty good at. I know it sounds funny that being a dental assistant is something that i might be good at but i really enjoy it. i'm catching on pretty quick and i'm having fun doing it. I think that once we are done having kids i might go back to school to become a hygenist. They make really good money and it's easy to set your own hours. so it would be easy to work while the kids are at school. anyway just a thought. i really am enjoying going to school. i miss owen every night while he is at nana's house... but i actually think he enjoys the time away from me. is that sad to say? it's only 3 hours before he goes to bed, but i really do miss him. Any way that is the up date for now i hope that was good enough for you all! ;)

Here are some pictures from a day at the park ....Please excuse Owen's Snotty nose. :) When I look at these pictures it reminds me just how fast Owen is growing up. It makes me kinda sad but yet excited. He is doing so well with his speech therapy. When we move to California in 3 weeks I hope and pray that he continues to do well. He is so used to the preschool and the people. I hope he doesn't back track at all. I'm sure it will be fine though.

Time is getting close until we move! I'm finally telling people so I think it is now starting to hit me that we are actually leaving. I can't wait It's funny though, I didn't think I would miss WA at all, but now when we go out places I find my self thinking "this is the last time we will...." We have had a lot of great memories here and met a lot of wonderful people. I know Owen is going to miss being around his Aunt Becca and Uncle Robert, he is really close to them but I'm glad that now he is going to get to know all of his other Aunt's and Uncles.... yep life is very close to changing drastically but I am very excited.

I am so Nervous!!!! Have you ever been so nervous yet so excited about something at the same time!!!! It seems like all I can think about these days is how our life as a family is (in a month from tomorrow) going to so drastically change! We will be moving home to Huntington Beach which don't get me wrong I couldn't be happier about....But that means less of Daniel, I don't know if I'm ready for that, no I take that back I KNOW I'm not ready for that. Then again is anyone ever really ready to spend 9 months with out the person they love? I've done this time and time again, but never for this long. And I'm so worried about how Owen is going to take it.... Will he remember Daniel after not seeing him for that long? Will it put a strain on there relationship for the rest of their lives? I know I'm probably over reacting but I can't help but wonder. I know after these last 10 months in the Navy we will have the rest of our lives together... But then that's something else to think about....As hard as it has been being away from Daniel so often, we have been so taken care of in the Navy. Not really having to worry about anything. We always knew even when money was tight that there would be a pay check coming soon,we wouldn't have to worry about if Owen got sick or if one of us was sick, we always had some where to go. But now what? We have all of these plans but can we really do what we set out minds to do? Can we make it? I know through Faith and prayer anything is possible.... But it is still nerve racking knowing that in a month our lives will never be the same... Not that it is a bad thing because I know that Heavenly Father has so much in store for us.... It's the not knowing that's just a little scary. Sorry if you cant tell I have a lot on my mind ugh!

Some Pictures of the last time Daniel came home from being out to sea..... Owen was really excited. When He realized it was Daniel Walking towards us he started clapping his hands yelling "daddy" over and over again. Then when Daniel walked up Owen leapt into his arms and hugged him around his neck and put his head on his shoulder! I tried to take Owen from him and he just held on to Daniel tighter. Don't tell Daniel I said this but he was close to tears!!!! It was the cutest thing I had ever seen, especially since Daniel was so worried about Owen forgetting him.... It's moments like these that are just amazing!
